Niche communities out engage big guys...by 8600%!



These Communispace guys are interesting. If you are trying to build a business case to invest in building an on-line community for your Brand  /  business both as a Brand affinity / sales driver and a market research tool....they have some great white paper and studies with statistics that will help.

For instance:
- the "consumer to contributer" ratio is usually about 99:1 on the big community site, meaning that only 1% of folks actually produce and participate in the content creation / commenting
- in smaller niche communities with more intimate relationship and homogenous user base, the ratio is 14:86 meaning 86% of visitors contribute
